A beauty Bill, well done.
Simple is lovely!
I'd use that fly without a doubt.

Well done Bill, I would be more than happy to tie one of those onto my leader over here on the Yorkshire Leven!

This is just an ordinary Shuck fly - what did you expect? I would like to see it on another hook. Maybe one of those Tiemcos John Shaner prefers, or a Varivas Wave.

'Waterhen Bloa - Shuck Perfect'. You are almost there Bill. SP is your trade mark.

both previously mentioned hooks are good, but I prefer this fly (and other North Country patterns) tied on Sneck's, or an up eyed Limerick like the Mustad 3121......just my humble opinion....

Please Dana, send one of those - or both - to Bill. I would love to see the result.

humblier than you ;)

I most certainly am. A few weeks ago I bought 30,000 old Mustads. All cardboard matchbox type, VERY inexpensive! Hence the post “old Flymph Hooks”. I really prefer our patterns tied on vintage hooks.....it makes them seem “just exactly perfect”.
BTW - I’ve never had quality control issues, like other members have with old hooks....

I haven't seen any 'old Flymph hooks' post. Where do I find it? I really like old hooks but wanted to challenge Bill to use a modern 'modern' hook.
I have just read a chronicle of the Mustad company's first 175 years. The book was really interesting. From the start 1832 they made carding tools. They still draw their own wire in Norway and ship it around the world to their production units.
