Dark needle inspired wet

I'm embarrassed to say I've never tied a herl head wet before  It seemed like an appropriate pattern to tie on these gorgeous E Hille and company #201 size 14 hooks kindly gifted to me by Dana/Theroe. I absolutely love this iron, I'll have to take a super macro of the barb/business end when I get time, incredible artifact! Thanks so much again Dana, I'm forever in your debt...

I probably should have practiced before tying these on the real deal, razor blades may still come out

The first tie uses golden plover for the hackle and the second tie golden partridge. I didn't have 6B so used antique gold waxed with cobblers wax.

Nothing wrong with this fly, just about perfect in looks and I’m sure it will catch fish by the dozen.

There is nowhere to hide at 2000 x 2000 pixels—size 14 looks like a tuna gaff—and there is nothing to hide on these fine flies.

Two beautiful flies, I love the color combinations. 8-)

I have to tie a few to add to bulging fly boxes. ;)

Thanks for the inspiration!!

My variation added some olive dyed Beaver touch dubbing. ;) Can't wait to give them a try this spring.

Will/roadkill glad u tied a few up, I know what u mean re adding more flies to the box. My soft Hackle box is a little out of control atm  I like the effect of the touch dubbed beaver, one of my fav dubbing materials ;)

Karsten- send your soft hackle box over to me. I will sort out the dodgy ones and send back any good ones mixed in. ;)

The photos do a fine job capturing the iridescence of the peacock herl. Really captures the natural beauty of this material. Well done.

Bill - The vail of olive beaver dubbing is a nice touch. Lovely fly.
