Olive and Grouse

Post by skunkaroo » Tue Feb 24, 2009 12:17 pm

A simple softy...

Olive and Grouse

Image
  • Hook: Mustad R50 #14
  • Thread: Pearsall's Olive Green
  • Rib: Copper wire - Lagurtun's extra fine
  • Hackle: Grouse cape feather - stripped
A simple pattern suitable for any olive mayfly imitation. The hackle is tied with open wraps to minimize the fibres marrying in the water.

I'm beginning to get a new appreciation for grouse.

Very classic look to this one. I like it.

Very nicely tied, to fool a trout with such a seemingly simple fly is a great test of skill in the tying and the fishing.
