Mike - That is a gorgeous fish. Beautifully composed, too. You should print and frame that picture.

Agreed. Wouldn't turn up my nose at the gear, either.

What sizes of the stillwater soft hackle have you fished?

I have used them from size 10 to 20. On this day I was using one tied in a size 14 1x short 2x heavy wet fly hook. The rod is an 8 1/2' 5wt glass rod i built on an experimental blank. Reel is an orvis cfo III . Nice combo for this type of fishing.

Hello,
What color is the body of the fly? I looked up the material as I never heard tell of it before and they offer a lot of different colours. I'm amazed at what trout will hit given all the different patterns that are out there. Thank you.
All the best,

Tim

Sweet fly!

Side Note: Our daughter and I stayed over night in Miles on June 6th at the Econo Lodge heading to Glacier NP. It was 94 degrees!! Is it always that hot there in June?
