The Pink Lady is one of my absolute favourite patterns, both to tie and fish. I use it as a dry and soft hackle. Me an my son was in Montana a few years back and had amazing fishing in smaller creek close to Twin Bridge. Actually I do not know if it is supposed to imitate a specific mayfly. I just love the colour combination of the pink, gold, ginger and the grey thorax.

That's very inviting, and it looks to me like it would have crossover (to warm water) appeal.

There are some waters in Eastern Idaho, Western Wyoming and Southwestern Montana that the PMD is a yellow to pink color. I use a pink foam hopper on the South Fork of the Snake River in the summer that seems to attract mostly cutthroat. Even the nymphal drift of the glossoma caddis is a definite pink in the same waters. I love the Pink Lady.

I think that mayfly as found on Henry's Fork is called the Pink Albert, but not sure about that.

Downright seductive fly. The hackle is so nice, next to the pink body and gold rib. Gorgeous!

Hank, That last one looks a lot like Jim Slattery's Triple Threat Caddis with a color change. Great info, thanks for sharing. I remember getting off work at Jim's in June and July and there were small black caddis all over the place. I tied some small black dry flies (yeah, I know...Dries?) and couldn't get a take on them even when the naturals were thick. Bet if I'd had the larva fly I could have cleaned up.

In some Oregon waters Epeorus mayfly duns can have a pink cast to the body and can be referred to a Pink Ladies.

I know a commercial tier in Eastern Oregon that used the hair from his wife's Champagne Poodle in his dubbing to match the hatch on his own flies. It had just the right tinge of pink.

Jack Dennis also had a Pink Lady dry fly in in his first Western Trout Fly Tying Manual.

Thanks Hank for finding this, that is so interesting! The fly Craig Mathews ties really has the exact same colours, pink, amber/gold and tan thorax.
