CDL Flymph

Post by Old Hat » Mon Jan 25, 2010 8:33 pm

One for steelhead here in the PNW. I tie a few of this style with the CDL in #8 and #10 for steelhead. A very practical steelhead fly that works well where the steelhead like a smaller more buggy fly.

Hook: Bartleet traditional heavy CS10/2 #8
Thread: Pearsall's silk thread brown
Tail: coq de leon fibers dark pardo
Rib: pearl tinsel
Abdomen: natural felting wool dyed cinnamon
Thorax: Squirrel dubbing dark brown
Hackle: coq de leon dark pardo
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Carl,
I think this is a super nice tie. I love the attitude of it. Nice tying job as well.

Handsome fly Carl. I recently started using the CDL as a collar material and love the look. It has a nice springiness that should work well when fished.

The proportions, colors and hook are all perfect.
