Olive Quail

These quail have beautiful dun breast hackles with black tips. Not a lot of these feathers on a bird. It's a transition feather from the neck to colorful breast feather.

Thread: grey Griffith's 14/0
Tail: Light blue dun
Body: well waxed thread and muskrat
Hackle: upper breast feather from a california quail

Nice and delicate. I like the long slender profile. Bet this would work great on still waters.

I have to agree with Ray on this one. Love that long, slender profile of the body. And It's ever so delicately fuzzy. I like that and I'm sure the fishes will too. The hackle is quite unusual too. They are not stiff are they? I guess I'm a sucker for soft, well barred, hackles no matter where they come from. Great job!

Not stiff Doug, very nice soft hackles. I tied this on a #18 so it is a tiny fly.
