rabbit back fur hackle
I've been playing with the Swiss clamp and tying various hackles. A friend suggested I try the fur from the lower back of a rabbit hide. That area has a name, but I couldn't remember the name, so someone can help me there. But, that fur created a beautiful hackle, is soft and alive when moved in water, and looks great wet...

Great looking pattern, that fly will catch fish! What a difference a little water makes.
The word I think you are looking for is Husk. It is a word used to identify the long guard hairs on the back of a hare and/or rabbit pelt if my memory serves me correctly.

that was it, Variant... that fur is as you suggested; very soft, it is very lifelike when moved in the water.

Good looking patterns. I am sure you will do well with them. I tie some micro streamers in size 14 through 10 with a similar technique.
