One of my longtime favorite patterns. Beautiful.

Dear NW,
Just as Ray said above! You have tied the classic that we all love and you have tied it well! We all have had a moment or two at the vice and on the water with this beauty! You have emerged (this wasn't intentional but it seems to fit!) from this affair with a splendid representation to show for your time well spent!
You do good work! Please keep it up!

Okay so I added a second fly which is now on top and the dressing is exactly the same except the Tup’s blend consists of dyed seal and less hackle.

Thanks Dougsden. It’s a pattern that always intrigued me but my tying
attempts in the past have not been pretty. I like to tie dries and again
my dry fly attempts of the Tup’s have been wanting. Lou was kind enough
to send along some Tup’s samples and I think things have improved. 🙂

NW,
I like your second posting more! You are right! Things are getting better! I say this from a "less is more" standpoint! I suffered (and am still suffering) from "go ahead and take one more turn of that lovely hackle" thinking which I think is where you are at?? Deliberate restraint is hard to accomplish but it pays big dividends down the road as we can see in the second pic!
That Lou has it going on with the Tups dubbing you used! That stuff looks super! Save every morsel!

Ray

Switched to tying a variation of Oliver Edwards' "Yellow Spider". Same as the OE dressing except I'm adding tails.
