Iron Blue Dun V.
Hi all - Testing my picture posting abilities. If all goes well you should be looking at my Iron Blue Dun variation. I'm easy going...likes and dislikes always welcome.
This fly has really produced for me all year round, for a couple years now, since I started tying it. I do enjoy tying the traditional patterns mostly, but also enjoy tweaking them a bit here and there.
Hook: Ken Sawada Old Limerick Wet
Thread: Black Griffiths 14/0
Tail: Heron herl tips (or substitute)
Butt: Metallic red embroidery floss
Rib: X-fine silver braid
Body: Heron herl (or substitute)
Hackle: Dark dun hen

I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

That is a nice clean fly. I'll have to tie some of those.

Very nice Carl, I tie a similar patter but use crimson tying silk.
Re: Iron Blue Dun V.
Hi Carl,
I looked this morning while at work, but they have just about all of the photo sharing sites blocked so you only get the dreaded red X where the pic's are supposed to be. Now that I'm back home, they both look really good. Really nice work!
Regards,
Mark

Dear Carl,
What memories this pattern brings to mind. Yours is a beautiful tie and I agree with all ahead of me in praises. I esp. like the iron which this pattern is framed. Beautiful looking hook! Keep them coming. Your photography seems well too!

Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.
Re: Iron Blue Dun V.
