Herbert Miner Hen Neck - Medium Brown Dun

Post by letumgo » Mon May 28, 2018 2:10 pm

Once I picked this up, I just had to buy it!

This is a lovely Herbert Miner hen neck. The package lists the color as "Medium Brown Dun". Gorgeous deep dun color, with a hint of golden brown. There are a few feathers along each flank which look like rusty dun (dark dun list down the center, with coppery tips along each side of the feather).

I'm hoping to put this neck to good use soon. Looks like it should make some beautiful flies.

Ray, I've been using Hebert Minor hen necks for years. They were suggested by our mutual friend, Jim Slattery way back when. The colors are superb and quite varied. I can always find just the right feather with my supply of Hebert Minor hen necks. Your's, by the way is gorgeous.

The variation in color/shading of the barbs from the list to the tips is striking. One of the prettiest dun necks I've seen.

Ray,
The more I look at this fine neck, the more I am falling in love! You are one lucky duckling to find such a beautiful neck!

My wife sees chicken feathers - I see a really fine looking hen neck. Go figure! :D

Ray, those are really difficult to pass up once you pick it up, and if you take it out of plastic and thumb through it, you're a goner. This is a beautiful example of this cape. Nice score.
