Yes, many thanks Dana! I start using them right away. I had the pleasure of tying on them, and fishing with them the next day.

It's worth noting that the hooks had offset points, which require a corresponding twist in the vice position when tying on them. An interesting little quirk of the offset hook, and another facet of using these hooks. Love it!

......it IS better to give than receive......Especially when so many talented tyers get to take those items, and turn them in to masterful art.

I finally found the sneck hooks and, as usual, they were in the last place I looked. The package is smaller than I remembered so I kept overlooking it. The three hooks from left: Mustad R50 size 18, Pennel sneck hook size 16 and Mustad 3354 sneck hook size 14.

BTW, Theroe showed up for the weekend in Roscoe with Sizes #12 and #14 of this Mustad 3354 sneck hook (along with some other vintage irons) for the rest of us. Many thanks, Dana!
Glad you liked them - I really love the Sneck bend...many flies, including your pattern above, belong on the Sneck.

And, Ted P sent me some real nice old snecks as well to tie on.....One other point about the sneck I would like to bring up is, that they hook and hold much better than a perfect or Sproat bend- I think so anyway!

They're hard to find now but Darrel Martin had his own line of sneck hooks.

Darrel Martin smut hooks
Code: CS21 Size: 16,18
These hooks revive the old popular and firm holding sneck bend. Black finish.

I have some of those......AND some Partridge "Skues Sneck" hooks, which are lovely..

There are conflicting accounts of the metamorphosis of that particular model from Partridge....RM Jeffries seems to think they are one and the same.

Guess I will have to find and procure more models for comparison!!
