I love my Anvils.  Try cutting with one side rather than scissor the thread.

Thanks Trifly. My Anvil scissors cut the thread when I pull like you suggest, they just don't cut the hackle close enough to the thread for me. I have tightened them, cut from both sides and no real change in outcome. I have 2 pair, and since tying spiders I have noticed it more and more. It wasn't really an issue tying dry flies, or at least I didn't notice it as much. 
I got my new pair of Dr. Slick Razor scissors today, that was fast. Wow, what a difference. I cut the hackle so close I couldn't tell where the hackle was.

i had read about Fiskars on another site and bought some, the finger holes are ridiculously small on the ones I got, only fit my smallest finger. That is a learning opportunity for me. The best thing about the Anvil pair is the adjustable loops.
