Recently acquired a cock and hen Mearn's quail skins. A couple of my favorites.

A really nice variety of feathers from a single skin, particularly the cock. Did you purchase them?

But not much good at either

Yeah, they don't come up too often in good shape. Usually shot to $#&!

I found this as a set on Ebay. I am an occasional bird hunter but these are more of a southwest species.
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

The feathers also make beautiful cheeks on stream patterns (why I bought mine). I have not tried them as soft hackles yet, but after seeing your pictures I am going to give it a go.

I recently acquired one of these. The pictures sort of caught my attention. Am very glad I have it and Thank You for highlighting the feathers. This will be used on some flies very soon. Thank you.

I have been trying to secure a Scaled quail here in west Texas. Just to try a different feather.
