I think I looked at every hen neck in the place, and only found one that was plain brown. I don't know how to read that: does nobody buy them or do they sell so many that the can't keep a large stock?
Plain Brown in hen or rooster are indeed rare. I was lucky and found this cape at the show. Not a hint of furnace and good tailing to boot.

Upstatetrout and Redietz , the last two capes I bought were dyed. I check every fly shop I stop at looking for natural.

The cape on the left is my last natural. The one on the right is dyed. Still productive.

Taken yesterday on the Colorado River using a size 18 Muskrat, which is tied with a Brown hen hackle.

Beautiful flies but they appear to be wingless. ;)

Sideling Hill has a lot of browns, all nice. Good price, too!
