I was thinking the same thing (Brama hen - perhaps dyed golden). I think I have the same one stashed away somewhere.

I was thinking a dark list honey dun, though the tips aren't quite right for that.

John,
Why don't you like them?

Gotcha. I don't mind them. I have a bunch of old Metz hen capes from the 80's that I use too. I do wish whiting were a little more webby, but it is what it is. I do use the whiting cdl hen capes quite a bit. Very buggy.

I have two old cock capes that are very close to the color you have there - very nice indeed !!

A couple of the older guys I fish with told me that particular color is called “buff”. And since it has a dark center in the feather, it is technically a “list”. Therefore it would be a “buff list” :geek: .....All of course in my humble opinion......

Also, I would like to point out that there are a lot of lost names for certain color hackle that were used years ago.
One particular day in the late 1970s, I was at the Dette shop. Eric Leiser was there talking to Walt, Winnie, and a couple of the other guys, and they had a bag full of rooster capes that they were discussing and talking about certain colors of dun, flecks and speckles, etc.

A couple years later, I was fortunate enough to buy a few of them: names such as ”badger dun fleck” Wwere written on small pieces of paper stuck to the back of each cape were written on small pieces of paper stuck to the back of each cape. i’ll see if I can dig one out and post a picture - when I’m done playing with my new storage envelopes!!

I agree with Golden Badger. Although, not bad for a Greenwell's.
