Back during the last millenium when I had a chance to sample a caddis hatch I was intrigued by the body colors of the newly "hatched" adults. They had a lime green body. I ended up fishing the hatch with a #18 lime green soft hackle equivalent.

Here is my John Day Caddis from many years ago and the basis of my comment. This was based on a stomach sample of a winter steelhead. The unidentified hook is a heavy extra short shank about a #10. The body is flo-green steelhead yarn very close to the sample. The fly is about 5/8" long. The wing whisks are church pane Cock Pheasant fibers,

Now that is a fishing fly. Really nice. Thanks Bill. I will be copying that one soon. ;)

John -   :D My local Wally World (walmart) only carries the large spools in this color. It's more than I will ever use (need some?), but I can at least use it as a running line for my OPST set up.
