Sometime, When I am creating at the vise, I have to completely re-tie a fly I'm inventing. Things don't always work-out the way you want them to. Even after over 45 years at the vise, I still make mistakes, believe me. I just don't show anyone those.

I learned, some time ago when I first submitted flies for Hans Weilenmann's site, that any little flaw is magnified. Now, my first submissions to Hans were not the best, but my second set were scrupulously tied and examined under magnification. Even then, I can see mistakes, and I've seen many tiers that tie much more precisely than I do. I do appreciate your liking my efforts. I try hard to do the best I can, and I try hard also to remember that the fish ARE the ultimate judge of any fly.

I'm now quickly approaching old age, and I'm hoping my faculties will allow me to continue tying for a long time to come.

Mark...bite your tongue!!! I don't think that you and I are that far apart in age. I may even have a year or two on you. Saying things like that would be a hugh discouragement to me if I let it...Yea my fingers arn't quite so nimble but that's why I like to find tiny things to do with my fingers. In my mind (most think I'm out of it most of the time), i feel that keeping at the small stuff helps keep the digets limber.
