The Carey Special is a very popular Pacific NW fly. Bodies with green or red wool or peacock herl are the most popular. I used to get a lot of the green wool bodied ones shredded on the opening weekends. My brother-in-law had an epic weekend at a 4800' elevation high country lake one weekend with the peacock herl bodied one and a bunch of west slope cutthroat trout.

The coolwater/warmwater utility of these patterns open them to a broad swath of fisherfolk.
