I decided to look up the 'Early Brown' and found a very minor dispute on whether it is a stonefly or a Diptera called
a 'Downlooker'. Welllll, it's up to the fish really.

That would work here as well, Donald -- we also have craneflies in our local waters. But you're certainly right about who will be the final judge

Dark Spanish Needle......or Spanish Needle. That's the name I couldn't come up with when I first saw it. I went looking around in one of my orig. fly boxes and finally found it. It's a terrific pattern esp. early in the season! Hence your name....!! Yours looks better than mine!
