Thank you for the tip on the background colors. I am heading out later to get some craft paper, and possibly buy some paint. What have I gotten into?

Just thought you might like to know,
here in the UK, Claret is a red French wine, and red/purplish thread is called claret.
So your Canadian Wine coloured thread is 'Claret'.
I know of a restaurant called 'Mallard and Claret', which is owned
by a fly fisherman, and is a very well know loch fly.

Wayne, it makes me feel like i'm not so far off the deep end when I see others obsessing over their fly pics. It was a revelation for me when I first saw pics of my flies up close in excruciating detail. Not that perfect flies are the goal, but when you see every aspect of the fly in detail, you realize every choice you either made or didn't make. It just cranks your awareness up a notch, which I think does make for better flies. Maybe more important, seeing everyone's flies posted is really inspiring.
Great to see your new pics. BTW, Grifiths 14/0 comes in a burgandy/claret color that is really rich.

Donald, at one time there was a strain of Game Fowl named "Claret" after the wine. They had deep Red, almost Mahogany feathers.
William, I feel myself sinking into this photography pit. I really am dropping hints to my wife for a new camera. I think she hears me, but chooses to ignore. I just posted a picture of an Orange Muskrat fly. I looked at it about 20 times and almost didnt post it, as I am so darn critical about my tying abilitys. I knew when I started posting pics I would have to step up my tying game, and I am trying. Trouble, or maybe good thing is, there are so many good tyers on this site.
Thanks for the hints and tips and words of encouragement,
Wayne

Wayne - Please never hesitate to post your flies. We all gain for seeing others creations. I went straight to my vice after seeing your Muskrat and Wine pattern. If that is not a compliment, I don't know what is...thanks for the inspiration.
