Sort of on topic...

If you really want to punch up the colour, create an underbody from a single strand of silver flashabou. When you cover it with a single strand of unwound marabou floss, it absolutely looks like a jewel in the water. This trick can also be used with rayon flosses (like the Uni and Danville) to prevent them from darkening when wet.

It's an old trick that some fly-tyers use on full dressed Atlantic patterns.

of that, i have NO doubt..........all you ladies tye well........women just make GREAT tyers..........i've never met one (who would be willing to hang here for instance), who didn't. That's why i'm really looking forward to it (even though, i'll prolly wanna slit my wrist............again....... ), that and the fact that by way of many PM's i've come to highly admire the women.

I was put on to the same ribbing effect by a Clyde Style fly dresser about twenty years ago, it certainly is effective. In regards to Floss the great Derbyshire fly dresser Roger Woolley used to polish his floss before using it by drawing in through greaseproof paper several times to give it a better shine and a more translucent effect when wet.

William it took a couple looks on my part but noticed the fly with 9A silver had the rib counter wrapped or you may have tied it left handed. I've come up with about three different ways the counter wrap if that is what it is might be accomplished. Not that it makes any difference I suppose but you have me wondering which technique you used to get this result.
