VERY VERY Nice Bill............i've never had to soak the stuff either.....i only ask before because of the twisting aspect, with that other body.
Alan Podell (Catskill tyer), used to sell it (calling it SDT.......Specially Dyed and Treated) in various colors. And it was specifically for doin' dry fly bodies, because the "Treated" part meant, it was now water proff. i have a bunch of colors of it somewhere...........aint seen that stuff in a while............it'll show itself sooner or later.............

Ron I was looking something a whole lot cheaper.

I really don't want it for myself but for Mary Dette Clark. She is running low on her Peccary.

Here is the rest of the story as related to me by Mary. In '85 two fellows from Texas came into the shop and saw Mary tying her Coffin fly using a small piece hide. They said the would said her some. A short time later she went to the USPS and there was a stinkin package there for her. The two fellers had sent two green hides to her and they were in "fine" condition. She cleaned the hides and hung them on the clothes line and has been using them since.

I found a 2" x 2-1/2" patch at the FFShow in Somerset for $ 3.95, but I don't remember which supplier had it. Something that size would be of little use to Mary for commercial tying anyhow. They hunt these javalinas in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona, so placing a "want ad" on a Southwest Craig's list might turn up something. A friend and I got 2-day permits to hunt for them when I lived in New Mexico back in the early 1960's. We camped out in the high desert wilderness down near the border with Mexico and found a bunch of tracks in the morning after hearing a lot of grunting and rooting around during the night, but we never did see one in two days of hard hunting.

I've picked up a couple little patches over the past couple years. I believe I bought them both from the shop Yellow Breeches in Boiling Springs, PA. Ed can get it if they don't have it in stock.

William, if you mean Ed Koch, he is no longer with us. He passed away a while back. i have a nice pic of he and i standing together in front of his "tyers table" at the Somerset show, taped inside his book Terrestrial Fishing, where he signed it. He was a sweetheart.

WH, although I never got to met Ed Koch, I did admire him as a politician. I meant Ed...the friendly guy (one of several) that works there at the fly shop.
