Hank,
That was one of the first books Donald gave me a nudge to buy. You will not be disappointed in any way with the book. After quite a few nudges from Donald, I can say that if he nudges...buy the book, as it's going to be worth it. I'd like to get a look at Donald's and Mike's library some time.

Howdy All;
The Woolley book arrived today!
1st. edition 1932.... for $46.00 including postage.
Think I got a great deal, used in very good condition.
Boy am I happy...
hank
in my youth I'd refer to this (as it appears so jam packed full of information in a small package),
as a BLIVET (10 lbs. of 'stuff' in a 5 lb. bag),

That is ment (in this instance), as
great praise.

It is a terrific book Hank, with Roger Woolley and Roger Fogg, you can't go wrong.
Funny that, two Rogers, and they are both from Derbyshire, a great fly fishing county.

Mark,
When you say "the Fogg book", which one do you mean,
the 2009 book "Wet-Fly Tying & Fishing", or the 1988 book
"A Handbook of North Country Trout Flies".
Both excellent books but even although they are written by
the same author, they are different books.
The 1988 book is a bit more specifically about North Country
flies and the 2009 is more generally about Wet Flies.
I have much more affection for the "Handbook" as it was
the first Fogg book I read and for many years it was an almost
forgotten book. I realise my attitude my be sentimental and sound
a bit illogical. I still find it, with all its faults, his best book.
Being a rabid spider addict that is not surprising.

Hi Donald.........i fully and completely understand. If it weren't for some degree of sentimentality, i doubt any of us would last long in these pursuits. It is simply the prerequisite for passion. Books are the perfect example......you simple can't replace a good book with text on a Kindle. That's cold and calculating.....to many faceless facts.....if you get my "drift." The old books are the best........each time you pick one up, it's like closing your eyes and drifting back to a softer time, where peace can be found.
i got the newer book Fishing & Tying.....i'll get the other at some point.....but i have to watch it.....i buy so many books annually. i got 5 this week alone.
