Thanks for elaborating--I'm wondering if the hen is usually a bit darker? I've seen photo's of skins that seem to have really nice mahogany saddles.

Just in case someone has never seen one.

Looks to be a hen skin Mark.....i have 3 of the Male skins.....if we're talkin' the same bird.....Black Francolin.

Nice job, I'm jealous of your tying skills even if I'm assuming correctly you're not at 100%

it was a struggle handling the small materials. I actually tried 3 flies. The other two were not to my liking and may retry tying them another time. This one was the best of the three.

We are still in awe of your tying abilities and your photography. There is just something in your style that has a universal appeal to us and I am sure to the fish that you fish for in your area!
I once watched George Harvey tie flies before a huge group of people surrounding his tying table. The "junkers" as he called them and even the incomplete patterns that he left on the table were being snarfed up by a few brave souls. I can only imagine what the two patterns that you tried earlier must look like! May we as a forum of friends gather around your tying desk and "pick up the crumbs that fall from the masters table?"
I too want to echo the sentiments of all the others in saying that we are sooo glad to see you active not only on the forum(s) but behind the vice as well! This pattern, like all the others you have shared with us though the years, is just georgeous. Glad to see you back in the saddle dear friend. Stay strong and keep'm coming!
