Evidently they do make gold and silver threads! Ffutterffly is correct. My wife even confirmed it. And she is always right! 
I'll have to make a visit to the local sewing/fabric store and pick some up.
Hankaye, good idea with the gold wire. I did think about it but stuck with the grey thread in this case. This fly was the first prototype. I may try some variations though to see how they compare.
