Thanks, William. I'm sure you'll do fine on the wings with just a bit of practice. This pattern/fly has always been of interest to me ever since I started fly fishing and tying. I've seen a lot of different versions, many tied with floss bodies. I like the dubbed bodies better.

Cicvara, the first winged wet- exceptional! The soft hackles also. Beautiful ties.

The New Zealand pattern (Keith Draper- Trout Flies in New Zealand 1971)

Hook: 10-14
Body: Yellowish-brown wool or fur mixture
Wing: Rail (Landrail?)
Hackle: Ginger

Can be tied wet or dry.

Most references to this pattern are either yellow-brown dubbing mix or olive silk (as you have referred to above), with wings of honey dun or cinnimon colour and hackle of light ginger.
I think if I were heading to tie a soft hackle it would be with a seal yellow-brown mix and a light to mid brown hackle of your choosing.

The first fly is floating and is a synthetic dabing between two threads twisted and trimmed, and the legs and wings of the rooster, a head of foam.I'll do with the photo, so I'll ask later.
