Lykos--thanks for the link! I'm just starting to explore the spey scene a bit, but you've got to love those guy's materials stash. :) (FWIW, if you get a chance, pick up a melanistic ringtail skin--they're more plentiful than you'd think, and they've got a lot of neat feathers..."speckled" rump feathers, and the maroon/cream "almond hearts" and/or flank feathers make an interesting guinea sub.)

Ha, yes: it's just "black phase" ringneck pheasant cock....and for the love of all that's holy, be careful Googling that. :shock: (Also, the hens have really dramatic coloration as well.)

BTW, here's a link to an SBS using "manufactured" spey hackle:

Longish hackle works well on many types of flies, and this is an excellent example. Nicely done!

Murray,
Wow! I really like the dry vs. wet photo's! Your pattern certainly changes character when soaked and the long fibers really do a good job veiling the body fur below! They combine well and compliment each other perfectly! Do you have other variations of body and hackle in the works? Great photo spread too!

I missed this post earlier. Handsome fly Murray. I especially love the profile when the fly is wet. Great job!

Thanks for all the nice comments folks. I have decided that if a fly is going in the water, I wanna see what the fish is gonna see. So if I come up with something new or different (for me anyway) then it is going to be a double photo that I'll post

lykos33, Howdy;

Murray, Have to admit that when I first started to read the
inital post for this thread, I was thinking along the lines of
the famous Tur-duck-in (Turkey stuffed with a chicken, that
has been stuffed with a stuffed duck);

or better the grand old stand-by the stuffe camel;

Like to see DUBBIN fit one of them in his smoker... :lol:
