I really like this blend. Appears very versatile. That first fly is spectacular.

Love those flies. Hares ear is so buggy looking and a great material to tie with

William, all teasing aside, each and every pattern you posted is great. I would be hard pressed to pick one over the other. You and some others on this forum have crazy good tying skills. It's a pleasure to see your work.


Gig, even with the blur of the picture, it's obvious why you like that pattern so well. Your proportions, and taper seem perfect. I am glad you shared it.

If I have to choose only one soft hackle wet fly - it would be this kind of Partgridge&Hare.

Beautiful flies, as always. Just a beautiful look with the spectrumized, multi-colored blends.

Something to think about: If naming a fly that uses materials from so many critters becomes difficult, you may consider them variations of Noah's Ark!

JohnP, I didn't realize Polly was a trapper. That makes sense considering some of the things he mixed together. I'd love to see that Fledermaus and Hare's ear. Btw, I think you're on your own when bobcat is just a conventional fur. Your collection exceeds mine by a mile.

A great fly there William, appears a simple dressing but the amount and care of blending the dubbing proves it is anything but simple. Hare's Ear (Lug) and Partridge is one of the oldest Spider patterns, but that does not mean that a lot of variations are not possible, as you have brilliantly shown. Take a wee pat on the back.

Don't let 'em beat ya up, w . Blends are just approximations anyhow, even if you cite percentages. Does anyone actually count the number of fibers of each component ?
