A treat to see these flies, Lance. Thanks. I smile. Form follows Function, & that's a thing, we see, the fisher of these flies understood.

For a long time I've preferred straight or up-eye hooks, as they keel better & tend not to roll as much as down-eye designs. Is that the reason I see so many of Pete's flies tied on straight or up-eye hooks?

This reply is a long time coming, for which I apologize.
I'd estimate that 70% of the flies in Pete's wallet had up-eyes.
In Fishing Wingless Wets you will find a post about the Turle knot that says a little about why Pete liked UEs. You say it better than I did.
