John P.....i been tellin' her that for over 2 years........but it's like the scene in "the movie"............only it's Texas and not Montana. i'm gonna nickname her Pauline soon.
Kelly.....you were the one who first mentioned it........in fact you said your fly was (basicaly speakin'), inspired by the one Doug posted. So you must know where it is............

Y'all have made me feel like I am riding on the moon. Thank you so much. It has been a fabulous day. Thank you for your thoughts and comments. The fly I posted here, was meant to be very close to his work, but I had to give it my own special touch too. His fly was gorgeous for sure. I am gonna have to see about coming up with his recipe. I need to watch that video too. I just got back a few minutes ago. I've been out most of the day. I like to play around with patterns sometimes. It is fun. All the flies on that favorite fly forum are just top notch. I am going to make them all as close to the original as possible. Then I might tinker with them too. I made my own secret recipe for the dubbing for this one....hehehe. I wrote down the ingredients, but they aren't exact amounts. I even threw them in the coffee grinder for about 3-4 spins. The dubbing is very pretty in the light, especially if you like the buggy look. Dougden's fly was very buggy, and I wanted to make an especially buggy one too. I have thoughts that go fleeting by about things I'd like to try. Sometimes I make note of them, sometimes not. This forum is such an inspiration to me. I am learning so much with those who are willing to share, and give me pointers. I get more out of that, than books any day. I should go take a pic of my dubbing in the sunlight. I get a kick out of mixing my own up sometimes. It makes me feel especially creative.

A birthday you'll never forget........."Aint it Cool?" Just keep after it with all the drive and passion you already have........and you'll be somethin' to recon with VERY soon.....start teaching asap as well.....just give free lessons to kids at the library or whatever.........it's VERY good for you.....in many ways. But be sure that the library alots you a little budget for hooks and materials..... Bottom line, "Only the birds sign for free."

What a cool looking tie Kelly, I'd fish that in a heartbeat. Great to see one of your ties, keep em coming

Wow! Your pattern is fantastic! I like it better than mine! You have done a really good job in substituting materials to make this fly look awesome! I just can't get over how good this bad boy looks. I didn't catch it in the forum threads.....have you tried this one out on your favorite water?
I believe it was Ray T. (letumgo) who mentioned earlier that substitution is a very good thing and I agree with him 100%. As your dubbing selections grow (believe us, they will!), definately experiment with differing color combinations and furs (textures) and you might just come up with the next great classic!! From what I see here, your creativity is limitless! We all encourage you to "Go Get'm Girl" and definately keep us posted on what you do and how you do it!

I was completely surprised by your message here. If you thought my fly was good, I am very honored. Because your fly was my inspiration. I cannot tell you how inspiring your message was to me. Thank you for letting me know your thoughts. I do have what I would call a decent amount of dubbing as it is. But I know over time, that collection will continue to grow. I have yet to try this fly out. I just tied it a few days ago. I hope to go fishing within the next few days. I have stocked trout to try it on, once they get here. I love to mix dubbing. I just look at what I have, imagine what I want, and then I put a little of this, and a little of that in there. I wanted my fly to be every bit as buggy looking as your supreme looking fly was. (maybe even a tad more, if that was possible) It would be totally cool to come up with a great classic, now that would be a dream. I am very overwhelmed at your thoughts, and very appreciative as well.

Mark, it sure enough made my evening, that is for sure. This was not a good day, but after reading THIS, I think I had an instant change in my mood.
