It's really interesting (to me, anyhow), Lance, that you should mention Polly Rosborough's "fuzzy nymph" theory. In my initial attempts to create a small, chunky black and tan nymph, I tried using Polly's "noodling" technique for dubbing the body. As It turned out, the dubbing blend I had made would not hold together well enough to get the "noodle" tied in and twisted, even after applying some relatively sticky wax to the palm of my hand before rolling the "noodle". So, I abandoned that approach and ended up using a twist-dub for that first version.

Lance ~ As you no doubt know from a previous e-mail, I did end up with a "Generation III" version of this black and tan nymph/flymph. It uses the same body construction as the second, more slender one, but the hackle is much less palmered. This is the version I finally tied for my fly boxes:

That is a spectacular version too. I would love to take a peek at some of your fly boxes.....lol. Your boxes, and a few others on here, would sure be a treat!!! The level of tying skill on here, not to mention photography, is amazing. Bill, these flies are killer.
