What feather from the jay wing do you use? Can you describe the location on the wing and the color. I have lots of jay wings around, and only use a few of the feathers for salmon and wet flies (the lovely blue and black feathers), so I should have plenty of the right feathers.

I use the very small pale dun feathers on the leading edge of the wing. You will see them and some will have a faint bar running through them. Also try a Orange and Jay spider (A variation of the Dotterel).
