I have Hank, but not with that particular March Brown. I took that picture about 2004,
and it was only after my cataract problems about three or four years ago, that I had to re-learn
taking pictures. I had about 2.5 to 3 years with almost zero tying and picture taking. I was able to read BBs on my PC using a magnifying glass. Since I had my operation, a big improvement but not as it was.
As far as the picture goes, I have since, blown it up but nothing else.
The reason for posting it was Kelly's use of a thread body, I did the same and the Hot Orange silk turned a very nice mahogany colour, with waxing. Another reason to have some wax around still even if modern tying thread comes ready waxed. Away back about 2002/3, I did an experiment with wax and different colours of Pearsall silk, to show the colour changes. I did post it on a BB, but what with several changes of PCs and everything else, it is in that great filing system in the sky.
It would be a useful exercise to repeat. I had intended to make up various shades of wax by mixing the almost black cobbler's wax with white wax. I think, away back, there used to be more variations of cobbler's wax available.
I suddenly thought, one of the great advantages of retirement is that at 09.30 a.m. on a miserable, winter, monday morning I can ramble on like this and not give a damn.
Life does have its small pleasures.

Hank's question had me looking at that picture again, and I found the original,
you'll notice I called it a Spider and it had a thorax.

Ah, monday mornings!!!!

Donald, Howdy;
Every morning is a fun morning when one is able to look down
at the grasses and flowers instead of up at the root systems...
ramblings need be enjoyed, regardless of the time of day.

You've posted some great looking ties/photos.
It's a cool thread and I'm enjoying everyone’s contributions.
Neat looking flies Donald...

I tied that fly quite a few years ago. I am very partial to variations on the March Brown.
I shall have to get on and finish that swap, I have more March Brown ideas in my head.
