Study in picric olive
I recently dyed a Hungarian Partridge with Picric. Did a few classic spider variants tonight.
All flies tied on Mustad R70 size 16
The first one is tied with Olive Gossamer silk, gold wire rib and two turns of hackle with one side stripped.
For this one the wire rib is excluded and a thorax with seal dyed picric is added.
Change of thread to Sherry Spinner, that is the old 6b thread. Goes really well with the hackle. Two photos with white and black background.
This one doesn’t look that pretty, but might do well as a caddis pupa. Picric seal in split thread.
Enjoy and please comment.

Just beautiful, every one of them. You achieved a wonderful color with the picric dye. Just lovely.

WOW!!!! you did a fantastic job......as everyone stated above.........dynomite.
Lawrence Finny (see his videos at my site), gave me a bunch of different materials he dyed in picric when we were in Ireland.......
He's a master with the stuff, (specially since he's been handling it, as an explosives expert in the Irish army for many years), and really knows how to dye all the different materials with it. i used up all the Seal fur dyed with it that he gave me already. And i'm getting ready to do something with the bronze Mallard he gave me. i just found it again.....
That bottom fly of yours is a KILLER.....

I cannot find words to elaborate on what everyone else has already said, so I'll venture only ..."Bravo!"
