Striking Ray. What size of this style would you use if you you were after steelhead?

Carl - I like using hooks in the 6, 8 and 10 size range. I've been know to go up to size 2, but will likely start with the smaller sizes first.

Ray, when I first saw this the NZ yarn jumped out but I also noted that while this shows your particular overall markings, it's density and proportion reminds me of a Libertone pattern. Not any pattern in particular, maybe just an impression. It's a nice fly for sure. I need two hen capes by this last round of flies shown. This tan/honey you and Bill make such nice use of, and a creamy white used by Eric for somegorgeous "PA white flies" hatching on the breeches last month. Hard to believe there are gaps in my supplies.
